Nice to meet ya, I'm Laura.
I’m a graphic designer for creative entrepreneurs who specializes in social media graphic design & Pinterest strategy.
I’m at my best when I’m serving others. I’m obsessed with being your go-to gal behind the curtain, whether that means designing bomb-ass Insta stories, rocking out a Pinterest strategy, or designing your new lead magnet.
I’m a recovering perfectionist straight out of deep southern Illinois – think Springfield, but 3 hours south! I grew up loving cats and dance class. Now I am mostly known for being an obsessed dog mom to my Husky, Sassy, loving a good glass of wine, and using a fork to eat my mozzarella sticks. I can spot both a palm tree and a sans serif font from a mile away (I see you Avenir!). I love to travel and have to go to at least one St. Louis Cardinals game per year with my handsome hubby!
I should have always known I’d end up an entrepreneur. I was designing websites for a profit on my Dell computer before I graduated (early) from high school. That was back when Justin Timberlake was still singing SexyBack and Facebook made you have a school email address to sign up – those were the days! I self-taught myself graphic design, straight down to the pixel, using library books and playing around in Photoshop. (This was back before you could YouTube or Google anything.)
Life happened and I ended up becoming a single mom and working full-time as an administrative assistant. Wanting more for myself and my son, I went back to college for business and finally graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2015.
Being self-taught in branding and social media is what sets me apart from the pack (excuse the Husky reference). I’m able to match everything from marketing materials, to Pinterest graphics, to a coffee cup exactly to your branding because I learned how to do it by, well… doing it!
I denied my gifts for a long time because I was chasing a corporate ladder dream. Without fail, at each of my jobs, I would end up working on websites and designing graphics that were needed for various projects I’d assist with. I don’t know how I missed that this was happening, but I sure did!
In fact, just a few years ago, you would have found me as an office manager in an insurance office, processing paperwork and taking phone calls all the live-long day. I felt stuck, overworked and unappreciated. Was this what I was destined to be forever? After 3 years there, I was diagnosed with severe depression and I knew something had to change. I was the happiest I’d ever been in my marriage and our beautiful home so that wasn’t it. It took my husband pointing out that it was time for me to use my degree and do what I really wanted to do – hiring and human resource work!
I did something a large percentage of college grads never do – I decided to actually use my degree! I got a new job in a different town, met a bunch of new people and felt like I was starting from scratch kinda. I was in an entry-level HR position that they really wanted to grow and I was all in.
Then I had a light bulb moment.
I finally realized what my real talent and purpose was, and it was serving others by being the behind-the-scenes! I always wanted to be the girl up front getting the award or doing the speaking gig, when really? I do my best work supporting those amazing boss babes!
I invested in a coach and within 2 weeks, I got my first client as a virtual assistant. Today, you can find me side hustling from my handsome husband’s Macbook early in the morning or on my lunch hour. That’s right, I had to retire the old Dell so I’m working on a borrowed computer! That’s okay though because you gotta start somewhere.
When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my husband, my 10-year-old son, my 6-year-old bonus son, and of course Sassy the Husky. I’m also probably Swiffering our laminate floors because, well, Husky fur! To be a stay-at-home dog mom is the DREAM and I’m out here hustling to make it happen.
I believe anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it and don’t ever give up.
So have a seat, I’ll pour you a glass of Moscato and we can get to work on getting YOU back to doing the important things. (And don’t worry, we have plenty of lint rollers to get that Husky fur off your leggings later!)
